On display in the museum rotunda this holiday season is “The Lone Star in the East,” a Texas-style Christmas tree exhibition, created by Barry Doss Design. The exhibition celebrates the Christmas Season along with the diversity of the State of Texas, its history and culture.
The Christmas tree boasts a Lone Star tree topper featuring Sam Houston and other prominent Texas founders, along with a collection of handmade Victorian/19th Century-style decoupage plaque ornaments of state heroes, political leaders, and popular cultural icons of different eras which encompass the tree decor. A diorama of artifacts, antiques, decorative figures, and a rustic nativity surround the “state-fair-festooned” tree representing “cultural gifts” from around the Lone Star State.
On view throughout Dec. during museum hours. Museum closed Dec. 24-27 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2.
Sat. Dec 11: Tree-lighting presentation with song & dance at 1 p.m. in the museum rotunda.
This project is supported in part by funding from the Huntsville Arts Commission, City of Huntsville.
