SHSU will recognize students, organizations faculty/staff members on April 10 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Lowman Student Center Orange Ballroom. The Sammys is the official university ceremony that recognizes SHSU's outstanding student leaders and organizations.

Award categories include:

-Eight individual college awards.

-Seventeen individual and organizational awards which require nominations from members of the University community at large.

-Sam Houston Cane Award. These groups may be university-funded entities, university departments, or other on-campus initiatives that contribute back to the university in the areas of spirit, tradition and service.

-Four Sammy Awards, which also require nominations from the University community at large.
