The Walker County Historical Commission, Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center and Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library invite you to join us to celebrate Texas Independence Day and Sam Houston’s Birthday on March 2nd!

There are several events throughout the day in Huntsville to mark the occasion.  Please make note that some of the events require an RSVP:  if you want to be baptized a Texan or to attend the luncheon.  Otherwise, the coffee & reception and the gravesite ceremony are open to the public.  This year’s guest speaker at the gravesite ceremony is Dr. Gregg Dimmick, author of “Sea of Mud:  The Retreat of the Mexican Army after San Jacinto, An Archeological Investigation”.
