Texas Archeology Exhibit

Every year, the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library celebrates Texas Archeology Month in October.  This year, the archeology exhibit features posters on prominent archeological sites in Texas and artifacts from the museum which are typically not on display.

Some of the archeological sites highlighted in the exhibit are Mission San Saba (Menard, TX), the Bonfire Shelter (Langtry, TX), the La Belle shipwreck site (Matagorda Bay, TX), and locally the Henderson Yoakum homesite (Huntsville, TX).

The Texas Archeology Exhibit is on display Sept. 12 – Oct. 31, 2023, in the exhibit gallery at the Katy & E. Don Walker, Sr. Education Center, located at 1402 19th Street. Gallery hours are:  Tues. – Sat. 9AM to 4:30PM and Sunday Noon to 4:30PM.
