Join the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library this summer for Saturday Spotlights.  Every Saturday, from June 8 – July 27, museum staff will be on the museum grounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a variety of programs for visitors to learn about life in the 19th century. 

The Saturday Spotlight for June 8:  Shucking & Grinding Corn.  Corn was the most important crop grown by families in the 19th Century because of its versatility and wide variety of usage.  Come learn about the history of corn and join us for a day of corn shucking and grinding at Eliza’s Kitchen.

(Additional activities:  making ice cream at the Houston Mercantile and spinning at Bear Bend Cabin.)
