Join the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library this summer for Saturday Spotlights.  Every Saturday, from June 8 – July 27, museum staff will be on the museum grounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a variety of programs for visitors to learn about life in the 19^th century. 

The Saturday Spotlight for June 8:  Shucking & Grinding Corn.  Corn was the most important crop grown by families in the 19^th Century because of its versatility and wide variety of usage.  Come learn about the history of corn and join us for a day of corn shucking and grinding at Eliza’s Kitchen.

(Additional activities:  making ice cream at the Houston Mercantile and spinning at Bear Bend Cabin.)
