The Sam Houston Percussion Group presents ‘Ragtime Reimagined’: a musical tour through the genre of Ragtime. Beginning with some of the first iconic works from the early 20th century, these roots have been reimagined for percussion ensemble, through the novelty xylophone works created for and by percussionists in the 1920s and '30s.
The audience will also be invited to reflect on the social implications of Ragtime, which includes an examination of racism in the creation, performance, and dissemination of this music.
This FREE event will be live-streamed on the Sam Houston State University Percussion Studio Facebook page on April 19 at 7:30 pm.
