Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is an absurdist comedy that follows two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have been summoned by Hamlet's mother and stepfather to "glean what afflicts" the young prince. Struggling with the chaos in the castle as well as their own confusion and inertia Rosencrantz and Guildenstern contemplate such existential questions such as what is free-will? What dictates human identity? What is choice? What is the meaning of life? And ultimately what is reality?
