Multidisciplinary Treatment of Eating Disorders

The Psi Chi Honor Society will welcome licensed clinical psychologist Deborah Michael and registered dietician Kathy Veath for a presentation on the "Multidisciplinary Treatment of Eating Disorders" on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5-6:30 p.m. in CHSS Building Room 090.

Dr. Michel is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified eating disorders specialist with 25 years of experience in the identification and treatment of eating disorders and related conditions.  She founded and directed The Woodlands Eating Disorders Center and presently serves as the Clinical Director of Eating Recovery Center in The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Michel provides lectures on eating disorders and continues to publish as well as maintain her clinical faculty position at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA.  She is a founding member and President Elect of Houston Eating Disorders Specialists.  She is also a member of the Academy For Eating Disorders (AED) Medical Care Standards Committee, and past Co-Chair of AED’s Advocacy and Communications Committee. 

Kathy Veath received her degree in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Illinois.  Kathy is the lead dietitian at Eating Recovery Center The Woodlands since October of 2016 but has over 20 years’ experience working with those who struggle with eating disorders.  At ERC Woodlands, she treats those with eating disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge eating disorder. Her role includes individual nutrition counseling, providing meal support and teaching nutrition education groups for their PHP and IOP program.  Kathy is also passionate about educating the community about the dangers of disordered eating and unhealthy dieting.
