The Sam Houston State University Campus Carry Committee will present its findings and a draft of its policy recommendations during the final Campus Carry Town Hall meeting on Jan. 26.
The event, which is intended to solicit feedback before the final recommendation is made to SHSU President Dana Hoyt, will be held from 4-5 p.m. in the Criminal Justice Center’s Killinger Auditorium. The event also will stream live at cjcenter.org/live.
It will include Phillip Lyons, dean of the College of Criminal Justice and chair of the Campus Carry Committee; Jaimie Hebert, vice president for Academic Affairs; and Campus Carry Committee members.
State Senate Bill No. 11 will go into effect on Aug. 1, allowing students, faculty, staff and visitors who have a concealed handgun license to carry their concealed handguns while on campuses across the state.
Following the presentation of the policy recommendations and a timeline of the implementation process, a question-and-answer session will be available for attendees.
The policy recommendations are available for review before the event and can be found here.
