Bear Bend Wednesday - Cherokee Alphabet

Sam Houston became fluent in the Cherokee language while living on Hiwasee Island with Chief Oo-Loo-Te-Ka and family.  Sam received the name Colonneh which means the Raven.  Would you like to learn to pronounce your name in Cherokee?  Join Sam Houston Memorial Museum staff member Amy Mueller as she explains the different pronunciations and syllable stops for words.  Hear about the legend of Sequoyah and how he invented the Cherokee alphabet.  For more information call (936) 294-3153 or (936) 294-3936.
