Sam Houston State University

Archeology Presenation

October is designated as Texas Archeology Month. Join the Sam Houston Memorial Museum on Wednesday, October 11 as they welcome Douglas K. Boyd, archeologist with Prewitt and Associates, Inc as he presents "Chasing Beer Bottles and Privy Pits: Urban Archeology at the Frost Town Site in Houston, Texas."

The Frost Town Site is located almost within the shadow of Minute Maid Park and less than one half mile east of Allen's Landing. It was the first residential suburb of the City of Houston, and what's exciting about the site is that it represents the story of three different cultures in the same community over the course of its 150 years of existence.

Mr. Boyd's presentation will include a discussion of each of the community's transitions and provide details of some of the more exciting finds such as "Original Budweiser" beer bottles by Carl Conrad & Co. that predate Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser.
